UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
DRESS CODE FOR CLASSES
Grooming and presentation is a vital part of dance training. We encourage our students to take pride in their dance appearance, helping them to have positive self-image. Correct uniform must be worn for each class. Complying with the dress code of the school is inherent to the development of a professional attitude.
All students long hair must be pulled back and short hair is to be pinned off the face (headbands are great). Ballet students should wear their hair in a bun.
Please remove ALL dangly and noisy jewellery before attending class. Long earrings are not permitted as they could catch on something, stud or sleeper earrings are best.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Classical Ballet
Female Students
- Black Lycra Sleeveless Leotard with “V” gather front
- Pink Ballet Stockings (seamless)
- Pink Leather Ballet Shoes (No ribbons for class please - Only exams & performances)
- Black or Pale Pink Crossovers are permitted
- Hair pulled back off face and tidy
- Pink Headband
- Blakehurst Academy Tracksuit jacket (optional)
Male Students
- Black and White are your guidelines. You may wear anything that is comfortable and allows the teacher to see the body as long as you follow the colour guidelines. For example: a white dance shirt (can be a bonds t-shirt) or black tights, dance pants or shorts.
- Black Ballet Shoes with elastic
Contemporary Dance
Female Students
- Black Lycra Sleeveless Leotard with “V” gather front
- Tan stirrup stockings (seamless)
- Blakehurst Academy Dance Top
- Black or Pale Pink Cross overs are permitted
- Hair pulled back off face and tidy
- No shoes are required
- Blakehurst Academy Tracksuit jacket (optional)
Male Students
- Black and White are your guidelines. You may wear anything that is comfortable and allows the teacher to see the body as long as you follow the colour guidelines. For example: a white dance shirt (can be a bonds t-shirt) or black tights, dance pants, tracksuit pants or shorts.
- No shoes are required.
Jazz & Musical Theatre
Female Students

Male Students

Thursday Evening Adult Students & Hip Hop Class
Your only guideline is to make sure that you are comfortable and the outfit allows the teacher to see the body. Remember you must be able to move freely.
Drama
You will need a display folder.

Fitness
Please wear comfortable gym wear and sneakers or jazz shoes. Don't forget to bring some water!
Singing
Your only guideline is to make sure that you are comfortable!
Yogalates
Please wear comfortable gym or dance wear. Make sure you bring along some water and a towel. You will need a yoga mat.
